We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our semantic team to deliver world-class search technologies to mobile devices. You will be working with a smart team of linguists, ontologists and software developers on both full applications and tools that power NTENT’s powerful semantic search technology.

Our challenges include leveraging ontologies and semantic resources to understand the content of documents in order to deliver the best search results, select the most relevant adverts and improve natural language understanding. This is a unique opportunity to tackle challenging problems usually reserved to a few large companies in the search and advertising industries.


Duties and Responsibilities:

CheckMarkProvide code support for an in-house ontology engineering and knowledge acquisition infrastructure

CheckMarkWork closely with ontology and QA teams to ensure efficient and sufficient acquisition of knowledge in high-priority areas

Bullet-Check-Longer2Work closely with ontologists and linguists to support representation, reasoning, querying, validation checks and tests within ontological and linguistic resources maintained by the company

CheckMarkExplore and propose methodologies, strategies, standards, techniques and tools to further streamline knowledge acquisition and ontology engineering tasks


Skills and Qualifications:

CheckMarkBachelor with 6 years of experience, M.S. or PhD degree

CheckMarkFluent in English

CheckMark3 or more years designing, implementing and testing ontology/knowledge engineering tools and technologies

CheckMarkKnowledge of methodologies, technologies and standards of knowledge acquisition, integration and testing

CheckMarkHands-on knowledge of open-source and commercial ontology editors

CheckMarkIn-depth knowledge of open-source and commercial structured sources like DBPedia, Wikidata, FreeBase, Kinopoisk, MusicBrainz, etc.

CheckMarkPractical experience with Semantic Web infrastructure, languages, tools and standards (RDF, SPARQL, etc.).

CheckMarkProgramming experience (e.g. Perl, Python, Java)


The following experience is a plus:

CheckMarkFamiliarity with Cyc and/or ontology engineering methodologies like OntoClean

CheckMarkExperience working with linguists and/or in natural language processing projects

CheckMarkExperience with machine learning and spreading activation

CheckMarkFamiliarity with Python and functional programming principles

CheckMarkFamiliarity with/knowledge of Russian or Kazakh

CheckMarkKnowledge of a second language
